Sandra Meyer’s richly textured paintings in acrylic and mixed media are a celebration of the reflection of nature, and how it can embody our own existence, struggles and celebration.

"I'm mostly inspired by capturing moments of nature’s simplicity, whether it be a bird settling on a branch, a group of flowers, or the stillness and strength of a tree in a landscape horizon.”

“Many times, my paintings are a personal reflection of emotions coming from a place or things remembered. This allows me to take a personal journey back to a given memory and bring it forward onto the canvas.”

Sandra approaches her work with energy and brisk movements. Paint is sometimes left spontaneously on the surface to dry exposed, and other times applied in a very calculated manner with palette knives, brushes or her hands in a rich, thick texture. There is a constant energy and spontaneity of the application and lifting of paint in many layers. It’s almost as if the painting happens to her. “I like to get to the point with a piece where ‘it’ starts happening to me instead of ‘me’ happening to it.”

A former musician and corporate music businessperson, Sandra holds a music degree and was an oboist before she turned her creative expression onto the canvas.  A painter since a young age, Sandra promotes her artwork nationally with her husband at top art shows, and galleries. Art collectors continually seek her work out.
